What is Ash Wednesday?
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season where Christians prepare their hearts and minds for Easter, reflecting on the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for our sins. Because every person is born sinful, and because we all sin on a regular basis, we need Jesus' cleansing and purification.
Ashes are a traditional medium of repentance in the Old Testament of the Bible. During Salem's Ash Wednesday worship services, ashes are placed in the sign of the cross on congregant's foreheads as we are reminded of God's words, "for dust you are and to dust you will return."

Join us this Ash Wednesday as we reflect, repent, and thank Jesus for His atoning sacrifice.
